What Is Quadratic Equation?
A quadratic equation is any equation that can be written as ax² + bx + c = 0, where a, b, and c are numbers and a isn't 0. Graphed, it forms a parabola. It can have two real solutions, one repeated real solution, or two complex solutions, depending on the discriminant.
Example
x² − 5x + 6 = 0 is a quadratic equation. It factors to (x − 2)(x − 3) = 0, giving solutions x = 2 and x = 3.
