What temperature is the same in both Celsius and Fahrenheit?

−40 degrees. Plugging −40 into either formula gives −40 back out, making it the one point where the two scales agree.

Why do Celsius and Fahrenheit use different numbers for freezing and boiling?

Celsius was designed around water: 0°C is freezing and 100°C is boiling, an even 100-degree span. Fahrenheit's scale was set from different reference points (originally a mix of a salt-ice brine mixture and body temperature), so water freezes at 32°F and boils at 212°F instead.

What is normal body temperature in Fahrenheit?

37°C converts to (37 × 9/5) + 32 = 66.6 + 32 = 98.6°F — the commonly cited average human body temperature.

What's a common mistake in Celsius-to-Fahrenheit conversion?

Forgetting the +32 offset and only multiplying by 9/5 (or 1.8). That step correctly finds the size of a temperature change — a 10°C rise is an 18°F rise — but it does not give an actual reading. 10°C itself is 50°F, not 18°F.
