The Formula

Result = (percent ÷ 100) × number.

A common mistake is multiplying by the percent number directly instead of converting it to a decimal first — 15 × 200 is 3,000, not 30. Always divide the percent by 100 (or move the decimal point two places to the left) before multiplying by the number.

(15 ÷ 100) × 200 = 0.15 × 200

15% of 200 = 30
